6.2% of Pakistan’s population is physically and/or mentally disabled of the total disabled population:
- 43% are children—nearly 2 million
- 42% are women
- 65% live in urban areas,
- 35% live in rural areas



Common Causes
- Poor prenatal care and mother-child healthcare facilities lead to higher incidences of cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders in children.
- Humanitarian emergencies, such as earthquakes, floods, disproportionately impact people with existing disabilities and create a constant need for rehabilitative services due to spinal injuries, amputations, etc.
- Congenital and hereditary disorders, road traffic accidents, tumors, meningitis, and other infections are also prevalent.
